Practice nurses are qualified and registered nurses. They can help with health issues such as family planning, healthy living advice, blood pressure checks and dressings.
The practice nurses run clinics for long-term health conditions such as asthma or diabetes, carry out cervical smears and assist with minor surgery procedures.
|Ms Sally Hounslow|
Sally has worked here as a Practice Nurse for 19 years, she started out as a Pre Nursing Student, and went on to do her SRN training at Stoke Mandeville Hospital. She worked in ENT /eyes for 9 years, and several nursing homes since moving to Cornwall 26 years ago. She obviously loves being a nurse, and finds being a Practice Nurse her favourite job! She is expert in childhood vaccinations, smear taking, cardiac/stroke clinics, and general treatment room duties, and thoroughly enjoys interacting with patients, giving appropriate sign posting advice when needed.
She is a keen gardener, and has recently signed up to be a Green Champion for recycling for Cornwall CC. Having had 8 hip operations herself, she is very empathetic to patients. She has 3 adult children, 1 granddaughter, and 2 cats.

Days of work - Tuesday, Wednesday morning, Friday
Kim qualified as a nurse 40 years ago at Good Hope Hospital, Birmingham and has spent a lot of her career in operating theatres. Kim has been a practice nurse for over ten years after going back to university in Plymouth. Kim is our chronic disease nurse for diabetes. She has many other responsibilities including travel vaccinations, cytology and chronic/acute dressings.
Away from the practice Kim enjoys spending time with her husband and long walks with her two springer spaniels Rio and Ellie. She also likes to swim, goes to the gym and attends yoga classes.
|Mrs Hannah Winter-Baker|
Hannah qualified in 2009 from UWE Bristol. She has had 9 years experience working in a busy nurse led hospital before moving to the practice in 2017.
She is currently the Asthma / COPD nurse for the surgery. Hannah really enjoys this role and finds it extremely rewarding when patients come back to see her with improved symptoms.
Hannah has a young family and enjoys spending the weekends going on adventures with the children, swimming, bike rides and going to the beach.
